Harry Duggan: Leeds United’s Irish Influence Of The 1920s

Born in Dublin in 1903, Duggan started his football career with Richmond United (Dublin), where he was soon identified by our scouts. On 1 May 1925, he signed a professional contract with us and after settling in, went on to dispatch his first league goal for us on 6 November 1926 in a 2-2 draw against Sunderland.

At first, Duggan had to settle for a place in our reserve side, failing to break into the first team for a consistent spell, though between 1930 and 1936, he became a first team regular.
